Kirstin Newfield, P. Eng. M.A.Sc.

Kirstin is a registered P.Eng. with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba with experience in geotechnical and water resources engineering. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Geological Engineering from Queen’s University and a Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Toronto, Canada. Her master’s degree focused on bioremediation strategies for hydrocarbon contaminated sites, specifically the impacts of thermal remediation on naturally occurring anaerobic bacteria. Kirstin conducted additional research at the University of Toronto, focusing on low-impact development (LID) as a sustainable approach to urban stormwater management.

Kirstin is a passionate educator having instructed Hydrology and Hydraulics and Field Methods in the Civil Engineering Department as well as Landscape Hydrology in the Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto. As such, she has an appreciation of the interdisciplinary nature of nature-based solutions and is uniquely positioned to collaborate across disciplines.

Kirstin brings engineering consulting experience from a global multidisciplinary consulting firm, as part of the environmental engineering team. Her experience includes environmental site assessments, remediation, environmental compliance monitoring, species-at-risk monitoring and risk assessments.
